Review by Paul Drawbridge
I was recently up from London on business and dropped into Fouters for lunch, following a recommendation of a colleague. I was so impressed, that I came back for Dinner as well! The food quality was exceptionally high as was the service and would put many big city restaurants to shame. I look forward to dining at Fouters again. I've just got to find an excuse to come to Ayr soon!

It is very easy to complain when something is not to our liking and few of us take the time to say when everything is OK. We all have our off days so it is fair to visit a restaurant over a period of time before making any conclusions.
I live in Glasgow and frequently visit Ayr and of course, Fouter's Restaurant. I have done so since the business opened over 25 years ago and I can honestly say that if anything the high standards that the restaurant sets, has even got better over the years.
This is a friendly, reasonably priced and obviously popular place to eat and serves food which is not only tasty and flavoursome but, is always beautifully presented.
Children are not only made welcome in this restaurant but they too list Fouters as a must when they visit Ayr.
There are few eating-places that maintain such high standards and care of their customers as Fouters do.
I congratulate the owners and staff and, unreservedly recommend their menus to anyone who enjoys good food and drink.

Dining experiences in Ayr tend to be very predictable in such a popular destination – but certainly not so at Fouters. What a fabulous little restaurant! I’ve been going there for years and it never fails to impress.
The staff are friendly and attentive and the wine list is superb. The staff really convey the impression that they enjoy working there and the overall ambience is of a clean, happy cosy place where everybody matters.
A lovely place to linger on any occasion. The food is superb - imaginative, without being pretentious. Regularly changing menus offer the best and freshest local ingredients, combined to offer a selection of dishes, the majority rooted in good Scottish cuisine and others with a more exotic flavour. The inventive menu is not long, but is high in the temptation factor, a vital ingredient of dishes that some chefs lose sight of. The menu is always well-balanced.
At around £25 for 3 courses, you will not eat better in Ayr.
